CLUB BRUNCH CRUISE:
On Sunday May 16, we will meet at the entrance to Island Beach State Park and cruise
up Route 35 to Simko’s Grill in Brielle for a scrumptious brunch. We will be leaving the
park entrance at 11 am sharp. Simko’s Grill is located at 403 Higgins Ave, just off Rt. 35
if you’d prefer to meet the group there. Brunch will be in a private dining room and
will cost $21 per adult and $10 per child, which includes tax and gratuity.
HISTORY OF WHEELS GETS ROLLING:
Friday, May 14 is our first History on Wheels display of the year, which will be held
Southern Regional High School on Rt. 9 in Manahawkin. The rain date is Thursday May 20
for this event. We will meet at the Office Lounge parking lot on Rt. 37 in Toms River and
leave at 8 am to caravan down Rt. 9. Others may wish to join the caravan as we head south.
Morning coffee and goodies will be provided
at 9 am and classes start arriving at 9:30. The last class will finish at 12:40 pm.
Due to severe state imposed budget cuts at the school, no lunch will be provided this
year – sorry.
Monday June 7 (rain date June 14) will be our History on Wheels display at Central Regional Middle School and Tuesday, June 15 at Christa McAuliffe Middle School in Jackson. Details for these two events will be in the June newsletter.
A sign-up sheet for all the displays will be passed around again at the May meeting. If you cannot make the meeting and would like to attend, please let Denny Derion know at 732-341-3582 or by email at Derions@comcast.net. Please do not just show up without signing up, as we need to coordinate with the various schools as to the number attending so we have adequate parking and food for the participants. Thank you.
PLEASE KEEP US INFORMED: If you are aware of a club member who is
ailing, hospitalized, or experienced a death in the family, please contact our Sunshine Ladies, & Gentleman,
Elaine Golden, Mary Schwankert, or Everett Ross so appropriate good wishes from the club can be sent.
If you change your address or email address, please let Denny Derion know so that the newsletter can
be forwarded and the roster corrected. Thank you.
